The Top Ten Women on Television of 2013

Fiona Gallagher - Shameless

Alicia Florrick - The Good Wife

Fiona Gallagher is hard not to fall in love with. The head of her family from a young age due to selfish and irresponsible parents, Fiona had to grow up fast. Not that she hasn’t hit many bumps along the way, like a pretty bad decision trying to host a club night and sleeping with a married guy, but Fiona always seems to make it through somehow. She refuses to follow in her parents’ footsteps, supports her siblings both emotionally and financially and even got her GED, making her the first person in the family to get a diploma. Fiona works hard, is let down constantly, but refuses throw in the towel. I really could go on forever about how inspirational (and well written) a character she is but it would be better for you to binge-watch Shameless right now. Don’t worry, I’ll wait. It’ll be worth it.

I don’t think I can ever properly express how much I adore this woman, and how impossible it would be to be her on a regular basis. She is careful, patient, kind (but never nice, never a pushover) and incredibly bright. And more and more, she just really does not give a fuck about what you want. She is disillusioned by the law while still fiercely believing in it, and is tired of playing nice with all the people using her in their own schemes.  It just so happens, she is also the dream lawyer I hope to be someday, fabulous red dresses and all.

"I don't mean to be an asshole, it's just genetic."
